Remote Entry: Any do it yourself'r try this??

I noticed my ESPAR remote control has an unused control circuit.
My old aftermarket car alarm used one remote channel to run the door locks on my old Chevy.
I've always been bummed out my Ram did not have the remote entry option(bought off a lot)
SO: Anyone know how to connect a remote receiver into the door lock circuit so it toggles the door locks in either direction??
I assume I need a relay to convert the remote receiver over to a higher current solenoid but am not sure about the open/close toggle...

Looking at the old posts, there is mention of a harness for the Dodge keyless entry. Anyone know if the circuits I need are in that harness or not? (mine is SLT with power locks, etc)

Any thoughts would help

David,I installed a remote start/keyless entry(JC Whitney on sale $39)on my '95. The instructions said no relay needed for Dodge,but it will depend on the type of switch in the Espar. Mine teed into the two wires that run between doors and sent a ground pulse to one wire to lock,the next push of the button sent a pulse to the other wire to unlock. My unit also flashes the parking lights,once for unlock,twice for lock. I'd tell you the wire colors but I doubt if the their the same for your year. I originally bought this unit for the keyless entry,but after seeing all the other things it does wired the whole thing up. Another nice feature is you can leave the rig running without the key inserted,but if anyone tries to drive it it stalls and can't be restarted without the key. The remote start feature is only for automatics.

Since I only have one channel on the remote to work with, it sounds like I need some kind of relay that will change states on each activation. Thanks for helping me get started on this.

David,another thing you might consider is useing your Espar remote to only unlock the doors. It's no big deal to lock your doors on the way out,getting back in is where the remote comes in handy. It will greatly simplify your install,depending on what type of switching the Espar does it may just be spliceing two wires together.
