I'm looking for a remote fuel filter mount for my truck. I'll be using 1/2" ID fuel line. I've dug up a couple mounts in some old threads. One using a Cat filter, others using equivalents - cheaper. The filter water separator I probly will use is Fleetguard FS1000. The two mount part numbers I came up with are Fleetguard 3930618S http://www.fleetguard.com/fleet/en/catalog/catalog_popup.jsp and Donaldson P174769 https://dynamic.donaldson.com/webc/WebStore/search/item_detail.html?item=1860. Both show 1/2" inlet and outlet. The equivalent in the Baldwin number FB1311 http://catalog.baldwinfilter.com/catalog.html showed the same mount, but it had 7/8" inlet and outlets.

My question concerning the inlet and outlet size, when it says 1/2" inlet, does that mean it's for 1/2" ID fuel line or 1/2" OD fuel line? I don't want a restriction. Thanks for any help on this.

Jeff, that is pretty sweet. Is that 1/2" ID fuel line you used in the pic? Would running just one fuel/water separator be ok, or is two filters necessary?

I am using 3/8" fuel line with my kit. I used 2 filters because I wanted to get 2 micron filtration and keep the ability to separate water since I removed the stock filter/canister. I am sure you could get away with just one filter, I think the FS1000 series fuel/water separators are 10 micron filters as well.

Definitely give Richard a call at Glacier Diesel and he will help you get exactly what you need! ;)

There is a NAPA mount that will bolt through the floor of the body and has a spin-on filter/water separator - - - 1" NPT in and out, just use a reducing bushing by what eversize you want to use 3/8" and 1/2" are common. Setup is easy to install and easy to change out. Saves changing out the OEM filter - - - do it about 25K miles - - worry about filter break down - - - haven't been brave enough to leave the OEM filter out of the can but there probably wouldn be a problem - - - the OEM filter is spotless everytime I cut it up to look at the condition.

:--) Would it be possible to mount on the frame Vs. the floor of the body? Might be a good system but any holes in the body scare the heck out of me - note my location - salt is used on the roads.

Joe Mc - - - I to live in salt country, and did mount it to the floor, but there would not be a problem bending a piece of sheet metal to make a bracket, and bolting it assembly to the frame. One thing I did was put a hand outboard motor pump (squeeze ball) between the tank and the filter so I could prime the large filter with out having to run the lift pump multible times - - also saved rumnning the injector pump dry when I changed the filter.

I have found a NAPA remote mount part number FIL4770. 1/2" npt in out, 1" 14 on the nipple. Looks identical to the mount from Jegs a 'permacool' brand or something. I like it because I can bolt the mount directly to the frame and don't need to find someone to bend or weld me up a bracket.
