So we put a Sony Flat Screen in our RV and have moved a Direct TV box from the home to the RV as we start to spend a lot of time in the RV. . We've been parked for the past 10 weeks and are headed home.

We've found that either the Remote for the TV or the Direct TV remote is turning on the Furnace/Air conditioner and resetting the thermostat during their use... at this point what we notice is the either the heater, or AC coming on when we least expect it and and find the LED on the furnace control panel in the ceiling of the RV lit when we least expect it... .

Have any of you experienced this...

Does your thermostat have a remote? The TV remote will be IR (infrared) but the Direct TV might be IR or UHF. It'll say on the remote in the fine print.

If the thermostat supports a remote then it's entirely possible that it's picking up the other remotes and acting on it. Poor design I say.

If the thermostat doesn't support a remote then you have other problems. Maybe the battery is dead.

Does your trailer have a remote controlled heating and cooling thermostat?

My HH is a 2007 and doesn't have a remote controlled thermostat so I'm not familiar with them. Like most RV components that attempt to be high tech the remote control receiver is probably a little unsophisticated and not sufficiently refined to prevent interference from another remote controlled device.

Were you near other RVs where you were parked? My thought here is your rig may have received signals from a neighboring RV. I had problems with our satellite dish until I was able to change the codes on my remote. I have a power awning which will occasionally open or retract on its own. I have not found the solution to this yet.

The heater/ac use a remote... . I've sat and played with all 3 remotes and can't get the heater or ac to start with the TV or Direct TV remote but it has to be happening... .

Just wondered it someone else has had this problem...

We've been in a single RV slot on a Oregon Dept, Fish & Wildlife sight doing volunteer work. . nothing even close... .

Each button transmits a specific number (code) so it's possible that certain buttons on the TV remote match the thermostat remote. Some systems lets you select different code sets (so you can use two VCRs or two satellite receivers).

Jim,

No clue what your issue is, retired, new TV, remote control, satelite, all the luxuries and seeing the USA in style. Hummph!

I had a REAL remote control issue in the bedroom of my trailer, old flat screen doesn't even get digital channels needs a convertor box type roughing it. One day I replaced the master bedroom (make that the only bedroom) CO2 detector or something like that, batteries did a job on the old one. Settled in for some later nite TV hit the TV remote and the blanketttty blanketty blank new detector went off in a test rant tirade for what seemed like an eternety BEEEEP BEEEEP WARNING DANGER WILL ROBINSON MASTER BEDROOM HIGHEST LEVEL DETECED WAS ZERO PPM etc. Turns out that the way toooo smart new detector used any remote control on signal as a substitute for pushing the little test button. And from about 8 ft away, that thing is L O U D AAARRRGGHH.

Good luck and safe travels Jim.

How was the sturgeon swim?

We drained the pool down to 3 ft or so... I was standing there polishing the windows in my chest waders... and the sturgeon would swim by, (5-6 ft, 350 lbs) and rub against your leg and it felt like being bumped hard, and the first 2 or 3 times I almost went over... later as I was helping clear out some of the over growth I tripped and fell into the water... kept my hat and glasses out of the pool... but was soaked...

We all had a great laugh and I was politely told when you fall into the ponds you owe the rest of the crew a case of beer... so we're back there with the grand kids later this month on the way to the beach... and I'll pay my debt to the crew... .

Jim,

What did the big sturgeon say to the little sturgeon? That one did not taste like chicken son, thats why I spit him out!

Need pic Jim!
