After about 3 years trouble free -the remote start feature on my 2012 is not working properly..... I have replaced the key fob battery several times just to be sure it wasn't the battery. The remote door lock/unlock works just fine - only an issue with the remote start. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

The remote start won’t work if you have an mil. I learned this when I began to get a coolant low indication on cold mornings, which would go away as the truck warmed up. Of course, cold mornings are when I wanted to use the remote start.

Thanks John - No MIL currently on in my truck. I did notice however that if I hit the lock/unlock buttons on my fob first..... the remote start works just fine. Interesting!

Just an observation.
Is this the first start in the morning? Has there been any high winds or storms overnight? I've figured out that anytime there are winds over 25 - 30 mph and it shakes or rocks the truck (YES, Okla winds will rock a 7200#+ truck) my auto start doesn't work in the morning. I've not tried the unlock / lock trick (Thanks kcpolk) yet but I will. When I get in the truck the EVIC tells me it's been disabled due to (what ever). I figure it's the storms. Just my 2 cents and something to consider.

Do you get one honk of the horn instead of the normal 2? If so the dealer can look at the inhibit monitor to see what the cause of the inhibit was.

While I don't have an answer to your issue I found out two things this past week first on my 17 it will not remote start with the door open but it will lock the door. As I tried to start it from inside while grabbing another arm load of stuff to put in the truck. It honked the two times so I left the key inside and went to load the truck. Realized it didn't start and figured oh door was open so went and grabbed the key put in the ignition and started the truck, it was cold so I shut the door as I went in to grab another load of stuff. Came back out and realized the door was locked truck running key in ignition freaking great. Fortunately the door had not latched completely and after 20 minutes was able to use. A coat hanger to activate the lock button. Good thing the door had not completely latched tight as even though it wasn't I had a difficult time getting the hanger through the door/ door frame. No cell service where I was at could have been a long walk to a service area. My vw golf must have had some sort of sensor as you could not lock the key in the car it just would not lock.

Next went to use it again and as I pulled into my street the low fuel light came on. In the morning went to remote start heard the two honks when I went out it wasn't running. Thinking what the heck there was a message on the evic remote start cancelled due to low fuel.
