Odometer in dash quit working

OK so I have a 2016 6.7 with remote start option,
been working fine since I got it last month!
till today
was 7 degree's out, coldest its been since I got the truck
hit remote button twice as always, and NO go
waited 10+ minutes tried again
NO start
had about 2 inches of snow on truck, lights would blink as always but not start??
was hoping this would work in winter time LOL

SO< get in truck, and dash display says " REMOTE STARTER DISABLED " ?
then says the heater needs to go on to start, or what ever,
figured for the low temps
OK

wait a little , turn key., truck starts fine

was doing some running around, truck sat for a good 3+ hrs

get IN truck this time and try remote to see if dash says anything??
and it WORKS??

BUT as soon as I stick the key into the port
truck shut off??

Normally it would stay running when remote started and I just have to turn key to run like to drive it??

ANY clue what is happening???

I mean I had hoped the remote starter would be a benefit on super cold mornings, to allow me to start it up while I got ready or, cleaned snow off and or???
But if it doesn't work in the COLD ???
HUMM?

any thoughts?

Is that the only thing the EVIC said? Like if mine is low of fuel, it will state that remote start is cancelled due to low fuel.....or something to that affect. In any case, it says why it is disabled or cancelled (at least in this case).

Is the Malfunction Indicator Light on and staying on? That's what happened to my 2014 The remote start would not work. And if it did it only stayed on for about 5 or 6 seconds then would shut off. You'll need to take it to the dealer.

OK< NO Malfunction Indicator Light came on, just read the words across the screen and then went away when truck started
and none have been back on

the remote has also started the truck 2 more times today(was trying to see if I could get a repeat)
but worked just fine
I had a full tank of fuel as well, so wasn't low on fuel at all

this is the second RANDOM error I have had with truck in the past 30 days or less
first was one to
"Service The Electric Brake System"
and that one a Malfunction Indicator Light did display for about 15 minutes after the warning came on screen and then went away and hasn't been on
and I have YET to even tow anything so, nothing was ever even hooked up to E brake system?/
I have NOT been to dealer yet, as everything seems to work after the error display goes out?
Bought truck out of state, and local dealer get there panties in a bunch when you DON"T buy off them and need service done, or jerk you around as best they can , for NOT buying from them
BUT then again they won't budge on prices, so??
to save 5 grand, I bought else where LOL
I will be having dealer do first oil change soon
so was going to wait till then to bring up the errors, as long as nothing gets worse
but its some what a shame to me, a NEW truck would have issue's in the first 30 days of ownership, even if trivial
but for what these things cost??
NOT complaining, just saying
I sadly think MOST things are made this way, lack of true pride in quality anymore IMO!

From the book, these things are a must for the remote start to work....

• Shift lever in PARK
• Doors closed
• Hood closed
• HAZARD switch off
• BRAKE switch inactive (brake pedal not pressed)
• Battery at an acceptable charge level
• RKE PANIC button not pressed
• Fuel meets minimum requirement
• System not disabled from previous remote start event
• Vehicle security alarm not active
• Water In Fuel Indicator Light is not illuminated
• “Wait To Start” telltale is not illuminated

My truck is going to be in the dealer tomorrow for the 3rd day in a row. One of the things on my list was that the remote start would start truck, it would run for 5 sec. or so and shut off. It would say remote start disabled in evic. My service guy told me today that they need to order parts and that it is a big deal and thankfully it is under warranty. I have no idea wha could cause this or why it is such a deal with these trucks. This is my fifth ram, first diesel, and the computer part of these trucks sucks big time. More later.

OK so I am NOT alone then??
That sucks, just way too much crap in vehicles anymore if you ask me, and MOST of it is NOT needed
and just driving the prices up like MAD!

I will see if it does it again and IF so, to the dealer I will a go?

what is Battery save mode?
is it a Icon on the screen or???
I'm not all that tech savvy with these modern trucks so>??

If a door was only latched shut on the first latch and not fully shut this will cause a no start issue as well. Maddening when the kids don't shut the door properly and you find out the next morning.

Doors were 100% closed,
Only me, so I make sure its closed when I get out, park on a hill and it closes by itself( actually wish the darn door would stay open better, always closing on me legs if I have to spend any time getting something out
closes way too easy for me, wish it had deeper groves in the gear there

How much idling have you been doing?? Are you doing a bunch of short trips that don't allow it to come up to full temp?? You could be at the upper threshold limit for regen and have your DPF near full and you need to get it out and run it to burn off.

I don't do a lot of idling with it, maybe 3 or 4 minutes and then I drive easy, some small trips, but mostly a mix of hi way and rural roads, just did a 125 non stop hi way, cruise on at 73 mph,
run the night before this happened., parked it right after that, and I am 2 miles off exit ramp, so?
I filled my DEF tank week before, was a little under 1/2 tank when I filled it

One of the recall's on the 2014 model year addresses the "service electric brake system" message. I would check to see if your truck has had all of the software updates. I have been going through this lately and it has seemed to have resolved many issues. On my truck I find it takes two solid presses of the remote start button, and sometimes it doesn't seem to catch the first press so i have to press it a third time. That said, my remote start has been fine unless there is an issue with some type of message or fault. The two functions that are disabled whenever there is any unresolved issue with the truck are the remote start and cruise control.

thanks, and again I am going to play things by ear, and unless I get a bunch of repeat issue's
will try and hold off getting truck into dealer till first oil change
as I know the local dealers will all complaining to me about NOT buying it off them,
so , try to time things where they will make a couple bucks on a service and then there not so cry baby about checking other things, or I hope LOL

The dealer gets paid the same for warranty work regardless of where you purchased the truck. They should not be giving you any crap for not purchasing from them. As purchasers of expensive trucks we will always look for the best deal. They would too if they were in our shoes.

that's what and how it should be
but doesn't work that way here, local dealers get hurt feelings when you go else where
and I always GIVE them the chance to sell me a truck, there prices are just always BAD

so then when you go else where they get bitc#y
had one tell me a few times when I had an issue
WELL THAT"S WHAT I GET FOR BUYING ELSE WHERE!
and were busy, be a while till we can fit you in and such
don't need there grief when you have an issue, yet they don't seem to care if you DON"T give them any business
so hard to work with shops like this, and a shame
as money is money, they shouldn't care
but they all do here
first question they ask when you make an appointment is, DID YOU BUY IT HERE!
and tone changes as soon as you say NO!

when I was trying to buy this truck, 2 of my local dealers couldn't even give me a price, spent almost 2 hrs in one dealership, waiting for them to get me a price to have the owner tell me he didn't know HOW
would get back to me in a few days with one
which , well he didn't do for 6 weeks, and even then still didn't have a price
second dealer ship I went into, told me they were busy and I should come back later to get a price??
Third dealer, and NO lie here, I parked in a parking spot near the show room window, a actual parking spot, had a cc long bed
asked me to move my truck and park it behind there shop as my truck was BIG and blocking there view, it was like I was bothering them,
wanting to buy a 60 k truck! and I shouldn't park my truck behind there shop??
and then they didn't want to spend any time with me working up a price, just said, well it will be ABOUT this MUCH !!
need less to say they didn't get my business
and I am NOT new to buying trucks, buy one very few yrs all my life
its crazy here
these dealers seem to NOT care if they sell anything or not?
then get ****** when you don't Buy off them??
Crazy
but what I have to deal with here??
takes the joy right out of owning a new truck as soon as a issue happens! knowing what your in for!

I didn't buy locally either, but I do take my truck to the local dealer, and afterwards, I get a email from Chrysler asking me to complete a survey on the service I received at that dealership.
My point is make sure all your information is up to date with Chrysler to include email, then you will get that survey, then you can let them now, in that survey how that dealership treated you.
The dealership is representing the dodge name, they do have a obligation to make you happy.
