I am in the process of finishing up installing remote start on my truck, but I am having trouble with the tach signal and would like to double check with you smart types.

The camshaft position sensor connector has a redundant locking feature consisting of a clip that must be pulled out from one side of the connector to unplug it in addition to the push release. The factory service manual pinout shows the outside wire on the locking mechanism pull-out side as being the signal (the others being power and ground). The wire color coding information from the service manual does not match what is on the truck, however, and wire color coding from outside sources is inconclusive.

I connected to the wire the connector pinout suggests, but it is definitely not working. Is this the wrong wire? If it is the right wire, I will assume a bad connection.

Thanks,

Yes, you can supposedly tap the same wire there at position 22 if I remember correctly. (EDIT: I did not remember correctly  . Actual position is 24 )You wouldn't happen to have any of the following, would you: The color of the wire? A picture of that connection? A description of about where in which of the two ECM connectors it is located?

Cool - thanks. The tack signal wire should be the same color at that connector. I may consider tapping into it at the ECM also - I'll have to look at it.

Thanks for the picture - I am going to try to sort out a connection at the ECM tonight. And just for reference, it is pin 24 that has the tach signal. I will try to edit out the erroneous guess in my earlier post. My problem may just be a bad remote start module. At least AutoAlarmPro.com is willing to send out another module for me to try - got to give them credit for that.
