hi, guys

first: got a couple o' questions. is there a remote transmission filter (outside of transmission) option for the auto?

second: will i need a crows foot for my torque wrench so that i can torque the locknut and keep the adjusting bolt in place? i've never done a band adjustment... seems kinda simple, but it's confusing.

thanks in advance.

No you will not need a crow's foot to do the band adjustment on your transmission. You might want to do a search of my name and read the posts I did regarding this subject. I learned quite a lot when I did my band adjustment. I originally thought that the band adjustment was a normal adjustment required to compensate for wear in the clutch packs of the transmission. The bands simply go around the clutch packs and force the fluid through the clutch packs and keep the fluid from escaping the clutch packs. The adjustment mearly is a clearence adjustment around the clutch packs. In my opinion the bands seldom if ever need adjustment.

thanks, kowboy

i'll look up the posts (hope it works... i've got the worst luck doin' that) and might as well do it once to make sure it was done right.

I bought a B&M remote filter and spliced it into the return line between the coler and the pan. I mounted it horizontally on the cross brace under the radiator, passenger side. (I have my Amsoil bypass on the other side).
I made me a skidplate to bolt up underneath it to protect it.
If I was going to do it again I would go to a John Deere dealer or Northewrn hydraulics and look for a filter base with 1/2" nps threads instead of the 1/2" tubing size that the other one has. This seems to be working out alright, although the bigger size would have less restriction.

I've got the (probably same?) B+M filter as Josparks on my return line, but is mounted on framerail back near the transfer case, and hangs vertically, just like the oil filter... . there's been posts about these months ago, and many heavy/farm equipt sources, which didn't "pan out" for me here in SoNev. ---- Pep Boys ordered my piece for me, and it arrived with a filter. It seems to work.
