heat gun or adhesive remover. I've used both on mine. I removed all emblems and moldings. If you use a heat gun, you will probably damage the emblem. YOu probably don't care if you are removing it anyway.

Jason,

Thanks for your response. My concern by using a heat gun is applying too much heat and hurting the gel-coat in return. I don't care about the logo, but the paint is where my fear factor increases.

Do you have any recommendations on just how much and where to apply the heat? Start is front to back, top to bottom, etc.

Big D,

If you are that worried, you may want to use the adhesive remover and be done with it. After you remove the emblems. Wash and wax the area really good.

As far as the heat gun goes, you don't need that much heat. I have removed emblems on a hot/sunny day with no heat/solvents. So you only need to warm the emblem up. I would do it on a "warm" day and start at one side. see if you can heat one side and get under it with your fingers and start to pull it off. Don't worry if some of the adhesive stays on the truck. Just clean it off when you are done. I prefer to use adhesive remover on rubber and plastic and I use a heat gun on metal (like when removing bed caps that are stuck on with 3M tape).

Good luck.

If you have access to braided fishing line you can "saw" it thru the adhesive. Monofilament will work, but breaks easier.

I posted elsewhere about using a heat gun (probably because I have one now and love it!) but I just remembered another trick I used to get the dealership stick-on off my truck. Spray WD-40 in the gap between the emblem and the paint surface. Let it soak in a bit and repeat. Probably over 15 minutes or so for the door emblems. Then push on the edge of the emblem to kind of smear it sideways and it will slide off.

Might be something to try.

ntillm01,

I never thought of WD-40 and will give that try prior to using heat. Perhaps letting it set over night, just to see what happens. Hope that works for I'd like to get them off without damage.
