How can one remove the old oem lift pump and fuel filter without setting off a bunch of codes. I have an Air Dog installed, but kept the old setup for a "spare" tho never needed it. Please advise on how to do this with the least hassle.

I removed mine when I installed a FASS 95 system. It is pretty easy to remove the fuel filter assy. It has three or four bolts/nuts holdiong it on as I recall. There is a plate on the side under the fuel filter that needs to stay on (on my 2001. 5) the plate covers an access hole in the block maybe for a mechanical fuel pump on other applications ?? I removed all the fuel feed lines etc. It is easier to get to other items IAT etc.

Removing oem lift pump/oil filter

Thanks guys. I'll go for it. Just needed your reassurance.

'Preciate the advice!

no codes will be present if you remove the factory lp/filter

yep, no OEM filter or LP for 4 years, no codes. One thing I did though was to pull the fuse for the fuel heater so it does get a short if water gets into the plug and the ECM calls for fuel heater to fire up. Other than that all I did was pull the filter housing and the LP.

I removed the stock LP mounting plate and noticed that the hole for the mech LP (same block as 12V but no lobe on 24V cams to run a mech LP) looked soooo much like that of a SB Chevy gasser that I went out to the local speed shop and picked up a fuel pump block off plate, used the stock 2 bolts to bolt it on and its still there. :D
