Remove the Cigar Lighter

Can anyone explain the correct way to remove the cigar lighter from the dash, so that I can get to the wires, as I am thinking about using the power to the lighter for the power source for my AuX. tank fuel pump, beens power is there only when the Ignition switch is in the run position.

are you getting to th ewires or need to remove the lighter? I tapped into the wire for power to gauges. It was a pain to get at.

Remove the Phillips screw over by the trash bag hook then unsnap the entire trim around the radio that is part of the cig lighter.

The plug easily removes from the lighter itself. After it is loose, there is enough wire to pull the harnass for the lighter down below the dash to wire whatever control circuit you need.
