I removed the muffler last Thursday. I got the idea from a guy at work that has had several trucks. For the $35 I spent for the pipe and 15min time, I'm pretty pleased. I like the sound, the turbo seems to spool up quicker, It doesn't smoke as much when the engine is lugged. seems to pull harder, and I think the mileage is better. I haven't run a tank through it yet to check mileage, but seems to be better by my guage and the trip meter. Oh ya, I also put a K&N filter in too. Other than that it is stock. Strait pipe sounds good going through the gears with my six speed.

Has anyone done this? Good results? Bad results?

We have several NW BOMBers that have done this. For me personally, it would be like the silencer ring... take it out, test it and then put it back in. Others have reinstalled a muffler at the suggestion of the "boss".

Otherwise, I don't believe it hurts a thing and actually helps a bit with flow, etc. I tease the guys up here about "rabid garbage truck", but really, it does sound good as they leave my place going thru the gears. MikeR does an excellent job of that!

I took mine of for about 3 weeks, the milage increased almost 1 mpg. It was just too loud so I put a staight throught Dynomax on, alot quieter, same milage. As mentioned above something about the "BOSS" insisted.

I recently had my muffler removed and love the results. I had the resonator removed a long time ago and the silencer ring was taken out also. The sound is just right and my EGT's are down a little at full load, the turbo spools up a little faster and I've actually seen about a 3 lb. increase in boost, that now shows 29 lbs. I haven't checked the mileage to see if it was impacted but will soon! Sam

I figure like this if you like it go with it.

I tryed it and did not care for the sound when pulling stuff. I put in the Walker muffler and love the sound it makes.

See Ya

Chris
