I want to remove the driver side battery bracket and wanted to know if I have to remove the wheelwell cover. I can't tell if the bracket bolts are self tapping or is there a nut on the other side. My objective is to access the left headlight harness with some room to work in.

Seems to me i read in another link that he had to remove the inner fender to gain access. What is that your doing that you need room to work in there?

Dusky, According to the service manual,it looks like there are nuts on the underside. Try unscrewing the bolts from up top and see what happens. I would try to avoid taking off the wheelwell cover. It is attached with those special plastic rivets, that are not reusable, available at the dealer only and you need a special rivet gun to install them. I tried to install them without the gun. No way.

It is very tight where you are working. Ever try to replace a headlamp bulb? You need the hands of a child, and you cannot help touching the bulbs with your fingers.

I tried pulling to entire headlamp fixture out from the front to replace the bulbs. This is what the service manual says how to do it. What a nightmare! Tough to access screws. Need to lie on your back and reach up. Fixture would not come out. It would not clear the bumber cover ect.

Good luck #ad

This thing is a pain in the ass. There are six points of attachment. The two bolts that go through the tray and into tapped holes in the wall of the engine compartmentant and the two nuts that thread onto studs that stick up through the bottom of the tray are the easy and obvious ones. But there are also two studs that are part of the tray that stick through the bottom of the wheelwell. Look between the backside of the plastic wheelwell skirt and the back of the bumper. You will need a 1/2 inch socket and a stubby ratchet to get the nuts off.

The plastic rivets used to attach the inner fenderwell can be purchased through your Dodge dealer or through a quality fastener dealer. I purchased the special plastic rivet gun kit (includimng case and assorted packages of plastic rivets) from Snap-On. Expensive, but worth every penny!

Thanks for the Info, you all told me what I didn't want to hear. I thought it would be easy to get to the light harness.
