Hey guys-

Just picked up a radio for my dad's 96, how do you remove the black trim panel to get to the radio, i dont want to break it... . Snaps off after prying with a screwdriver?

Erik

Take off the two screws that hold in the cup launcher and remove, two screws that hold in the ashtray and remove, and the whole shebang will pop off with a flathead screwdriver. (held in with metal spring pop thingers). Radio is held in with 1/2" screws. Tilt the steering wheel all the way down, and put the truck in 1 if its an auto. Ohya, theres an electrical connection for the aux cig lighter. .

A plug adapting wiring harness for the new radio is a good idea. 10-15 from breastbuy etc...

good luck

After you take the cup holder and ashtray slide out of the dash you will need to apply the parking brake and turn the ignition on enough to move the shifter into a low gear on an automatic as mentioned in the other post tilt the wheel down then just pull the trim off with your hands. The clips let it go very easily, you will need to unhook the wires going to the cigar lighter. I have done this about 7 times in all different kinds of moods and situations don't be afraid at all you won't hurt anything. :-laf

thanks guys... . i figured it out and it turned out good. Now i just need to splice the radio in tomorrow and it should be goin good.

buy an install kit for the stereo. It will come with a couple plugs so you dont have to cut teh trucks wiring.
