I have a 92 std cab 4X4 5 speed, 200K Kilometers, and completely rust free, and have to change the engine (a wrist pin problem I posted about a couple years ago -its still going). There are several ways to do this, I'm sure, but I'm looking for the simplest with the equipment available.

I DO have a 6 ton excavator on site, and was wondering about simply lifting the front clip and body in one piece. I have all 6 mounts undone, and all the stuff connecting the body to the frame has been disconnected, or will be shortly. The interior is out anyway - putting in power bucket seats, new carpet, etc. Getting ready for some travel with my 5th wheel.

I was warned by a neighbor who is pretty experienced in stuff like this that running the straps thru the door openings would bulge the roof and break the windshield. Since I have no idea how much this body weighs, he may be right.

So any suggestions? running the straps under the body but over the frame? Must I remove the front clip? Thinking of doing this this weekend.

If you remove the grill, Intercooler and radiator you should be able to remove the motor directly out the front of the frame with about 12-18" of lift?
