Can anybody tell me this?

If you remove or disconnect the computer (passenger side on firewall) do the turn signals, wipers, etc... still work?

I know the alternator won't charge (I put an external regulator on mine).

But will the basics still work?

Thanks,

Wes

As far as I know anything on the multifunction switch drives relays down by the fuse box. The PCM controls the autoshutdown line though, which i think holds up the fuel solenoid. may have to wire in a relay control or put on a manual fuel shutoff. . hmm

just disconnect the 3 plugs and try it. . cant hurt the pcm if it isnt plugged in

THe shut-down solenoid is handled.

Right now I have the truck running. But, I haven't got it legal yet (turn signals etc... ).

Thats why I was checking.

I guess I just need to come up with a harness then. I wanted to pose the question before I went out and spent money in the wrong way.

Thanks

the speedo, tach, cruise, volts, trans o/d and lock-up if auto, grids and volt regulatorare tied into the computer.

Ok here it is.

The engine is wired into a stand alone system.

The factory gauge cluster has been replaced with Auto-Meter ultra lights

So back to the subject.

Lights, Turn signals, HVAC blower.

Will they work?

If the truck was in one piece then I would just try it out.

But currently the dash is out and so is the dash wiring.

Thanks,

Wes

recent project

well this subject has been a recent project of mine. I've been doing a lotta work with microcontrollers for performance data logging. i've designed a "computer" and a working dash and logger for a mechanical diesel like the 12-valves and was hoping to be able to eventually put it into a truck. As far as i know, i could do, but i'd rewire the lights and the HVAC with an external regulator on the alternator. my question, is the ABS stand alone and what controls does it need to function?
