Is it as simple as pulling it off? I know the tape used is pretty tough stuff.

I'm thinking about getting my moulding painted to match the truck. Also, once removed can new tape be reapplied to the moulding in order to restick it back on the door?

If you wait until summer on a nice hot day, the molding will come off pretty easy. The heat will get the double sided tape warmed up enough to allow this to happen. I did this while I lived in Oklahoma. Now reattaching with the same tape may be challenging, but I would just replace it as 3M tape isn't too expensive.

Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm up. Just be careful you don't kink the molding. Don't try to re-use the old tape, get new 3M tape with the red covering. Use 3M adhesive remover after the molding is off to remove glue residue.

You'll like the looks of it well enough you won't wanna put them back on!!! I saw my truck when the shop lining the rockers had pulled them off. I was wishing I'd got rid of them a long time ago.

I think the trucks look 10x better without them. That's just my $. 02!! :D

Sometimes you can use a really heavy fishing line behind the molding to "cut" through the tape. Might want to avoid the heat gun if you plan to reuse the molding. Otherwise, I'd use the heat gun.

I agree with taking it off. My '01 and '95 both lost the molding and look great. But, I got a door ding within hours of removing it on my '01.

Similar to Oil Burner's tip...

I have used dental floss to remove reflectors from my Harley Davidson. The floss is waxed and might be easier to slide through the sticky glue. No damage to paint. The tape is easy to find at the local body shop. They buy it by the roll.

I use a hair dryer/heat gun & some goof off or goo b gone. I pour it down in the top of the moulding & let it soak for a little while..... then apply some heat, but not enough to where the moulding starts to melt. Then slowly work it loose from the top corner pulling downward. It does work better on hot days, but the adhesive removers work miracles when it is colder.
