I have the clearence light kit and I am anxious to install. However, I can't figure out how to drop the overhead computer. Can anyone tell me what I am missing? I found the two clips where the garage door opener goes, but I can't budge it. Also, any other tips about installing the lights?

Thanks

I take it your talking about tempature guage and compass in your overhead console.
Mite not know what I'm talking about, but I'll try to get it right, or close.
I would imangine that screws for the toys would be behind console, so no one could borrow it when you needed them the most.
Seems to me that something would pop off on the console revealing screws to take console off. That is if you haven't seen the screws to hold console on overhead? Window trim mite be part of console?
Sorry I don't have one, but have seen them.
when I get a chance I'll look up in service manual. Differrent year, but can't see them changing attaching process.

The 99 and newer overhead consoles don't use any screws to mount them, but they are hard to release the first time you take it down.

Lee,obviuously you found the tabs in the garage door remote compartment. You will have to push the tabs forward to release and hold the tabs forward with your thumbs. While holding the tabs with your thumbs, use the rest of your fingers to grab ahold of the outside of the console and and give a few tugs down. The tabs at the front of the console will let go,but don't pull it down too far because there are rear tabs and a wire harness still attacthed.
Once the front is unlatched, wiggle the console side to side as you push it toward the rear of the truck and the rear tabs will unhook, and the console will drop down. Disconnect the wire harness and your done!

So the Dodge boys updated to tabs. It is a security improvement, to protect your toys in the overhead console. In the earlier models screws were easy to see and to get to.
No thief would want to go to that much trouble, fooling with tabs that are hard to get to.
Or are tabs cheaper than screws?

Tabs are cheaper and easier. All you have to do is push it up there and it stays. With screws you have to hold it up there and then shoot screws. Engineers will do anything to save assembly steps, part count and weight.
