Thursday night I am going to help my son install an XM radio in his 1997 2500 quad cab Ram. I only need to get to the antennae plug on the radio. I also need to find an always hot and a switched power lead. Any tips, hints, suggestions, pointers and general criticism will be gleefully accepted:). Thanks in advance.

Remove 2 screws from the drink spiller and 2 from the ashtray and then the plastic bezel around the whole dash cluster just pulls off with finger tips. The radio is super easy to remove then with a couple of screws. If you have done it before it takes maybe 4 minutes its so easy. you could tap the radio hot wire maybe.

I would also buy one of those wire harness adaptors so you don't have to cut the factory harness, any decent car radio store should have them.

If he has the factory infinity stereo, there is a wire in the harness that is hooked up to the factory radio to power the speaker amps. You have to hook this wire to the power antenna wire coming from the aftermarket radio or no sound will come out of the front speakers.
