My Cal diesel has a CAT converter. I noticed that it is clamped in place. Is there a company that makes a pipe that will fit in place of the CAT. I spoke to the dealer about it, and since there is no Smog checks on diesels he did not see a problem with removing it. He did say the Computer will show that the Cat is removed, but unless I have a warranty issue with the Engine or exhaust no will care. Just put the CAT back on if you do. This should bring the HP up the other 47 State SO standrad.

Don't know of any prefab pipe but you could just measure what you need and get a muffler shop to make one for you. And no that will not bring you up to S. O. output you have smaller injectors and different programing, it would lower your EGT's a bit but they should not be problem until you get some hot boxes or something in there.

there is nothing the computer can see if the cat is removed. . diesel engines do not have o2 sensors like gas engines, so the cat is just a soot collector that is stand alone with nothing measuring it/controlling it so if you take it off, the ecm won't know it gone, unless it can somehow figure it out from the engine performing better:rolleyes: . under my truck, there is a short pipe [less than 24"] that is clamped between the down pipe and the interm. pipe going to the muffler. if that is where your cat is, you could order the non cali part for it and just swap it...

Or you could do what I did and cut it out and have a pipe made at the muffler shop and clamp it in and you are good to go!That made a big difference getting rid of that thing. Don't know about the smaller injector thing but they should be the same on all the SO's maybe the HO is larger but think so.

Or you can do as some others have, and take the guts out of the cat. Unless someone looks down the middle, no one would be the wiser.

Removing CAT

I am not sure I would be breaking any federal laws. The CAT is a state mandated thing. If other states don't have I don't see any problem, especially since we are moving to AZ next year.
