How do I remove the stock overhead console in my truck? I know that there are two clips and then two screws in the sunglass part (hidden under the black foam) but I tried getting out and I couldn't. What am I missing?

If you don't have it off yet, this might help

There were not really any screws in mine, yours might be the same.

These pictures show the top side, you need to release the clips, pull down the front slightly, and then slide the whole console rearward.

good luck

Well, the pics are great, I appreciate them but when I release the clips, there is still something holding it upward. I don't know if there are screws in there or what. Can you look and see if there are any holes in it that would house a screw?

Thanks a lot!

I checked mine yesterday, there are no screws. release the tabs in the garage door opener section, and pull down very gently, then slide the unit backwards to release the rear tabs.

quote from the DC shop manual:

REMOVAL

OVERHEAD CONSOLE REMOVAL

(1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative

cable.

(2) Open the garage door opener storage bin door

and locate the two overhead console latch tabs near

the front of the bin (Fig. 4).

(3) While pulling gently downward on the front of

the overhead console, push the latch tabs forward

until each latch is disengaged from its receptacle in

the inner roof panel.

(4) Slide the overhead console rearward far enough

to disengage the two mounting hooks on the rear of

the housing from the mounting holes in the inner

roof panel (Fig. 5).

(5) Lower the overhead console from the headliner

far enough to access the wire harness connector.

(6) Disconnect the roof wire harness connector

from the overhead console wire harness connector.

(7) Remove the overhead console from the vehicle.

Hope this helps enough for you to remove your console.

Happy New Year.

Thanks a lot! I couldn't ask for a better more detailed answer! I got it down, fixed my dumb sunglass holder and hardwired my radar detector in! Yay!!!

Thanks again RD!
