My Laramie has the wood trim, around the stereo and one in each door. The new "Aluminum" stuff is much more appealing to me.

Anyone know how the door inserts remove? do you change just the wood part or the entire or 1/2 panel?

Anybody want to do a trade once I figure this out?

I agree. I'm not impressed with the fake aluminum trim on my Laramie. I'm a REAL wood and leather guy.

Then maybe you can trade KHogan for his faux wood trim??? Then you will both be happy!

I am not sure about the doors... just take the door panel off and see for yourself. The one around the radio is easy... just one screw and then the whole panel pops out vents and all.

I have a friend that just bought a 04 one ton with the silver, he would love to trade for the woodgrain.

I'm up for a trade, I'll be seeing a body shop owner this weekend- will find out, have a nice big box and bubble wrap for shipping panels, I'll volunteer to ship mine first.

It's just a matter of taste- everyone is different.

I really like my silver accents, they look alot more modern and euro than the fake wood. Look inside a BMW or most late model luxury cars and they are going to metal trim instead.

I'd rather have fake aluminum than fake wood ;)

Fake wood/fake aluminum. . take your pic. I think they're both lousy and inexcusable in a $50k truck. Dodge gets a lot for thei Mopar accesories wood trim kits, but at least they're real wood. I'm looking at the after market wood kits as well. EBAY is a decent place to start. Most companies offer real and simulated woods, all for much less than Mopar.

BTW, in most higher BMW trim lines, from the 3-series and up, you have a choice of sport trim (metal trim) or luxury trim (real wood). I had real burlwood trim on my recent BMW 540i Sport. . the one with huge wheels/tires/brakes, M-Technic suspension, 300hp all-aluminum V-8 and 6-sp. manual trans (i. e. , the "poor man's" M-5)

I mentioned earlier that i had a friend that is intrested. Two questions, do you have to swap the entire door panel? what is your interior color, taupe or dark slate gray?

I don't have the wood or the silver, but I would be willing to trade the stock black dash panel for the silver. My interior is the black as well.

It is easy.

Rear doors.

1)Remove the handle using a 10mm deep socket.

2)Remove the philips screw that is near the handle.

3)lift up, as in twards the sky, it will come right off.

4)Unplug the wire harness.

Front doors.

1)Remove the handle using a 10mm deep socket.

2)Remove the philips screw that is near the handle.

3)Remove the philips screw up on the "wing".

4)Remove the two screws down at the very bottom of the panel.

5)lift up, as in twards the sky, it will come right off.

6)Unplug the harness.

Something else...

Fed Ex ground is probably the cheapest way to send them.

You might be able to use a mirror box from U-haul, or also Bicycle boxes work great (kids bikes), but you have to be careful to keep the box size small enough not to get dinged with any oversize charges. You should try swinging by your local bicycle shop to see what kind of freebies you can get.

willing and able, my intent would be to ship mid week, need to check out the box thing. My truck is pretty much a third vehicle anyway and I'm between races for a while.

Operation a success!

Just a follow up that I pulled the swap off with the help of Bunn (his friend wanted wood grain) and JPereb with his instructions. I know it's purely a taste thing- now two Ram owners like their trucks even more!
