 Hello All,

I want to get an idea of a good 4x4 wheel hub bearing re-packing schedule. I'm a real believer in the old "Oil and Grease are cheaper than parts" principle. The engine oil, Tx-Case, NV-4500 and Axles get regular replenishing, but I have no idea about wheel bearing packing timing.

Also, what's the best grease to use for this app.

Thanks.

On the rear they are lubed by the diff. lube , on the front if there stock and like my 94 then they are sealed bearings.

I believe the front wheel bearings have to be replaced and can not be repacked? I would love to repack them if I could also. I have a 99 4X4 and was told they are are sealed hubs and both sides are different prices (approx $300).

They are indeed a sealed unit my first one went out just before 300k some others have said theres have gone bad at 70k Not much I know off you can do for them. The one on my drivers side has 310k and feels ok yet. :)

my truck is not front ABS and my bearing was $200 advanced auto life time warranty.

Yep theyre sealed. . but we seperated both bearings on my dad's old 99 by accident the first time we took off the hubs for rotors. Cleaned and repacked, and lightly pressed back together, no more problems for over 85k. yer mileage may vary tho. . axle nut torque (small) for bearing preload is necessary, from what ive heard. .
