Repair manuals?

Got my truck last Friday and love it. I will not miss the 97 PSD I had one bit. Are the repair manuals from Chrysler any good. I want ones that cover everything and do a good job of it. Any reccomendations? Also, I am thinking of straight piping it very soon. There is the muffler and something else under there but it doesn't look like a catilytic. What is it and is it illegal if I take it out along with the muffler?

Call 1 800 890-4038. The one for my 2000 was if I remember right 98. 00 haven't got it yet. Called them back this morning & they traced ups & it is suppose to be delevered today.

It is a resonator in front of the muffler, DC does a lot of things **s backwards. #ad

The factory service manual is the best!
Call the number that lshultz gave you and also reference my "2001. 5 Service Manual" topic in this thread. Make sure you get the 2001 (late) manual. They just became available a week ago... . I know because I had to return my first set since they sent the wrong manuals. They sent me a 2000 and a 2001 supplement but that will NOT cover your 2001. 5.
The resonator-like thing (highly technical term) #ad
in front of your muffler is an Oxidation Catalyst. The official 4adodge site mentions it for 2001. It works a little like a catalytic convertor but is made specifically for diesels. I don't know why they added it to the 2001. 5 #ad
but mine is gone. Not sure about your state's emission testing. #ad

Leewhiskey just got my 2000 service manual
Wednesday afternoon. Cost was 90. 00+shipping.
I don't have the bill with me now so I don't
know the total. It is worth the money.
