Is it possible to replace the second gen front bearing assembly with the third generation hub assembly? Any info would help!!! Thanks. 2WD truck!!!!

Dont the 3rd gen trucks have AAM axles instead of the dana? I dont know for sure but I would have to guess they are not interchangeable. Maybe somebody else with more knowledge of the 3rd gens will chime in. Can I ask out of curiosity why you are wanting to go this route?

Is your truck a regular 2 wheel drive pickup or cab chassis? If it is a regular pickup with the traditional spindle and double adjustable bearings I would think you would need to replace everything from the ball joints out. Then you have the steering geometry to deal with..... on the surface it seems impossible, however they might be more simular than you would think, I really don't know.

It's a 2wd we are hoping to do this because its easier to deal with a hub assembly rather than having to do bearings every 6 monts.

I would investigate why you're losing bearings. That shouldn't happen. I wouldn't think hub units would be any more durable. Can you tell us a bit more about the situation?

Ditto... . I usually repack my front bearings every 100k or so... . I've got some that have well over 500k on 'em... I'm curious as to why you're losing bearings, too? Is it the unitized front bearing in a straight front axle assembly?
