. . fyi. . Here's my experience with replacement of APPS/TPS on my 98. 5, 24 valve diesel at 150K miles.
Initial diagnosis - $69
Replacement of APPS
APPS (Parts) $398. 95
Labor $60x1. 25 $ 75. 00
Waste Disp. Fee $ 3. 00
Shop Supplies $ 3. 00
Shipping/Handling $ 21. 88
Tax $ 33. 16
TOTAL $534. 99
TOTAL COST... ~$605
I've got the old part but don't know if it is easily fixed. Anybody try this? Guess next time, I'll know the symptoms & fix this myself for about $400.
BTW, the symptoms were... . at low RPM's/minimal throttle, engine speed would go to idle for about 5 seconds. Finally, after moving the throttle back & forth, the engine start responding again.
