replaced filter/noisy pump

I replaced the fuel filter yesterday. Old one was very dirty, complety black at least 10k miles. I can now hear what i think is the fuel pump running every few minutes. runs a couple seconds and goes away. I've never noticed this before? I also cut out the muffler and put "Genos Garage" straight pipe in its place. It is really loud, I could not even imagine doing this on a 2nd gen. I hope this works because it is loud.
