4/2014 I replaced all brake parts. ALL. Hubs, shoes, calipers, etc. Just last week I barely heard a small scraping. Wife and I pulled the front wheels and pads were surely worn. Found one pad bad and it had rubbed rotor. When I pulled calipers I find badly worn and rusted cylinders. Took then to OReilly and they replaced both under warranty. Photo shows new cylinders and all old parts. It appears there is some kinda insert on head of cylinders that is wearing. What gives?

Not sure if the piston on those calipers is phenolic or steel but it also looks like like you may be driving on a state that "salts" their roads int he winter time...the stuff they use these days is horrendous in terms of causing corrosion and damage.

That said, your problem is also from buying reman calipers from Oreilys in the first place.
Cheaper remans simply do NOT have the quality available due to inherent cost and pricing constraints. Truck and auto forums are FULL of stories of reman parts failing, even right out of the box.

In short, despite the lifetime replacement warranty, the replacement labor costs will always remain on you and you will likely be better served by buying newly manufactured aftermarket calipers from the Raybestos "Optics-Cal" line. They are of excellent fit and finish quality and NOT overly expensive either.

The main culprit was probably stuck caliper pins which only permits one side of the caliper to brake. Depending on climate, 4 years without pulling apart for cleaning and greasing would be about 3 years too long.

1yr 7months and 12K miles and the Opti-cal caliper guide pin boots are shot on all four calipers. I can't even imagine what grade of elastomer would degrade that fast, especially without direct sunlight. New calipers at rebuilt caliper prices, it seemed too good to be true...

Now to see if they stand behind their product...

Today's rubber quality is below Zero all in all.

Go to NAPA, they sell kits with 4 guide pins and 4 boots for 7$ or so, i check mine annually and often have to use some new grease (vaseline) on them because they stuck so easy. Or i change them anyway while I'm in there.

Or to stop rust in the first place while under checking things over spray the calipers add a little white grease on the pad slides and leave it at that. Ive told my Son for years a little maint every now and then prevents this from happening. And YES it does creep between the pad backing and the caliper pistons to prevent rusting pads to pistons.
