Okay let me tell ya what's goin on here. My sending unit went out on my truck... . So, I replaced it with another dodge sending unit. At the moment I replaced it I had a full tank of fuel. When I was done the guage in the dash said the tank was full... well 300 miles later it still says it's full!! So I pull the bed off again and check it pulled the whole unit out everything looked fine... so I put it back in and the guage said 1/4 of a tank which was about what I had. So I thought I fixed it I went and filled the tank up with fuel and it stayed on 1/4 of a tank..... What gives here?? anybody else had this problem?? It was a new DC level. I've replaced one before on my friends 96' and it worked fine.

SmokinCummins,

Try doing a few test. Like if your up to removing again test the float see if it moves freely up/down and have some one look at fuel gauge to see if gauge is needle is moving( of couse you will have to put the connector back on to do test).

If float doesn't checks out you mite have short in the sending unit/connections/ wiring or the solid state board mite be messed up.

Well I'm foresure I'm probably gonna have to take the unit out again, and I wondered if it was moving freely or not, I was just wondering if anyone had problems with their DC replacements?? Or a problem simular to mine, it seems if one person has had a problem with these trucks a thousand have had the same. Well Thanks Missouri for the reply and I am gonna check it again.

I'm about to replace unit number 5. The first 4 were done under warranty, so other than the hassle, they didn't cost me anything. I'm now out of warranty so I'm having a discussion with DC about who pays for this one.
