Just wanted to put this out there to help others. 04. 5 5. 9 noticed long crank one morning, surged twice while driving that day, next time I drove the truck it died as I was coming to a stop once the TC unlocked. I had also been noticing the truck felt sluggish off the line and was hearing a knock knock knock... ... ..... knock knock knock... ... ..... coming from upper end of the engine, would come in sets of 3, go away for 3 or 4 seconds then do it again. Replaced the FCA, and found the Banjo going into the filter housing was loose, took care of all the problems, truck runs great now! Now if I can just solve the Lamp Out light, man that thing is annoying!

Your Lamo out is more than likely in the rear tail and brake light bulb sockets, they get hot and lose good connection with the bulb. I used an emery board to clean the contacts and then tightened them up with a pair of needle nose.

My 03 had this problem, took me a while to figure it out.

I had a "lamp out" one time and found it to be one of the liecence plate lights, if I remember right. (dang old age)

Eh, I've replaced every bulb on the truck, both rear taillight circuit boards, took out all the HID crap and went back to Halogen, checked all the wiring and grounds. All lights work just the lamp out light is on

Time for a multi-function switch if you can't solve the lamp out problem. Frequently, all I need to do is flip between bright\dim a couple times and lamp out is gone.

Interesting, I did not consider the Multi-function switch, all other functions on it work normal. I was under the impression the headlight and Multi-function switch just tells the computer or relay to turn on and the lamp out circuit will check for resistance in the lamp circuits. Will your Lamp Out light come on as soon as you turn the key on? One thing I found to be interesting is when I removed the HID's the light went off for a day then came back, when I replaced the relay for my back up lights the light again went off for a day, and lastly when I cleaned up the ground between the cab and bed it went off for about an hour then came back, just coincidences I guess.

It will pop a Lamp Out immediately and normally all I have to do is flip the dimmer a couple times with the lights on and all is good. Don't know if it is the issue but thats what fixes mine. My wiper delay is intermittent so I know my switch is probably not making contact correctly. Just figured that could also be the source of the random lamp out.

well I figured out my Lamp Out light was caused by light corrosion on my passenger headlamp plug, didint seem like much but apparently it was enough to make the lamp out light freak out. Picked up a 2 pack of high temp heavy duty ones from Pep Boys for $11, and problem solved! ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... I hope... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... for now... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
