I sold my '97 12 valve to a friend several years ago... . he just took the truck to the Dealer to replace the throttle linkage, and it was replaced as per the TSB covering it.

After the "repair" the truck will not shut down when the key is turned off & the Dealer insists that the problem is the throttle position sensor... ? Now I haven't owned a 12 valver in 3 years, but I'm pretty sure there is no TPS in a mechanical diesel.

What are the quick check/fixes for the fuel shut-off soleniod which is likely the culprit here? How could they have messed this up replacing the throttle cable??? I need some "ammo" before I drive down to the shop & talk some sense into these guys.

Thanks in advance, Greg

The engine is turned off by the fuel solenoid shutting off fuel. The dealer is full of it.

Just in case the throttle linkage is interferring with the fuel solenoid some how, just disconnect the rod to the lever on the injection pump.

If it still will not shut off, disconnect the large three wire connector that goes to the fuel solenoid. If that does not shut it off the fuel solenoid is stuck.
