Replacement Engine?

Greetings all! The Ford dealer that i work at has a trade in 2006 Ram 2500 with a 5. 9 cummins and a burned piston. They want to put a long block in it and I have been getting prices at a few recyclers and also from Jasper Engines. Can anyone recommend other options? It's had a recent turbo, so that is not needed. Thanks.

Check Cummins??? Call your local Cummins dealer or distributor and provide ESN or VIN so that they can identify the CPL of the engine. Get a quote, may not be too bad.

If the cylinder wall is scored a repair sleeve would be another option, however the block must be stripped and sent to a machine shop in order to do that.

I bought my 03 with a dead engine and with the help of a Cummins mechanic friend rebuilt it. Now I know exactly what I have. And it only cost me $$$$$$$$ by the time I was done Shad

Don't forget to check the injector on that cylinder. It had to burn for a reason... ... .

Cylinder work, new injectors - adds up quick.....

If you only get the one injector need to make sure they all are balanced within a few percent of each other.....

And there is a very good chance using the matrix I posted above that the Cummins long block offering will have injectors with it.

The asterisk indicates that some do indeed come with them. Need a serial number and CPL to know for sure.
