I broadsided a Hyundai Excell two days ago #ad
. The other driver (a 17 year old kid)(ok, I am also a kid-20 y. o. ) turned left in front of me (I had a green light). I left a 59' skid mark and I almost stopped in time. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and the only damage to my truck is to the bumper. The Excell suffered a little worse #ad
. My question is: do I go to D/C and have them replace to bumper, do I go to a local junk yard and hope to find an undamaged one on a '93 Ram 250, or do I buy a heavy duty aftermarket steel bumper? If anyone has had to do this, please let me know how it worked out, and if it was aftermarket, brand and model, do you like it, how much $ was it, and where you bought it. Any info is appreciated. Thank you. Sorry for the long post.

Scott Elliott: I had a similar experience with a Nisson 240 something. I replaced the front bumper with a stock one from a local parts house. HOWEVER... I'm not happy with the way it "performed" and so I'm having a new bumper similar to the Denver off road type built out if aluminum by a local metal fabricator. It should be done in a couple weeks so the stock one will be for sale. Probably about 200. 00 (including plastic trim pieces/150. 00 w/o trim)plus shipping to buyer. If you are interested and can wait let me know.

Billy, thanks for the offer, but I have been looking into "Ranch Hand" type replacements. Unfortunately, RanchHand doesn't make anything for the 93, only 94+, so I am looking at other companies, like South West Fabricators. I am ordering through Big R of Falcon. It is looking like I'll be in the $300-400 range, whereas the stock bumper from a local bumper shop is $244, and then I'd have to go to a Dodge dealer for the pads. Either way, I will be spending more than I wanted (ok, keeping less of the insurance check).

Have you checked into a company named Reunel? They make very strong bumpers but i'm not sure if they make them for our year trucks. They probably do because i thought they custom made them. Just a suggestion. I do know of one truck in my area with one. The trucks looks very stout and that bumper protects the whole front-end of the truck. See ya
