My 05 Ram Hood doesn't want to stay up all the time anymore.
Geno's sells OEM Struts, which obviously don't last forever in terms of capability and for $33. 95 each.
Meanwhile Liftsupports.com sells 106lb Gas Struts that should fit per their "catalog" inquiry for $14. 50 each.
212 lbs of support should hold up the Hood better and for longer than OEM?

I used Liftsupportsdepot.com to replace the Bed Lift Struts in my RV with 20lb stronger ones (each) to accomodate the extra weight a 4" Memory Foam Pad added and they work great.

I've bought plenty from Geno's but their description for replacement hood struts just says OEM so maybe they're not as strong as "aftermarket" with 106 Lbs of support?

Suggestions/Advice/More OEM Info anyone?

When I was in business one of my suppliers had gas struts for vehicles and I ordered a set for my 05 Jeep... Very cold weather, in the -20* range seems to have a very bad effect on these... I was a little worried but this was one of my better suppliers... the wholesale price was about $9 each... I purchased the one for the hood, yea just one and the 2 for the lift gate... perfect fit. . perfect function and lying next to the oem I couldn't tell the difference...

I wouldn't be afraid of the off brand items... just my thoughts...

I was just looking at the GATES branded water pump with a metal impeller, and someone commented that the OE Cummins part purchased from Geno's now has a plastic impeller...

Just my thoughts...

I got mine from liftsupports.com because they had the best price. They've held up well and fit perfectly but they're only two years old.

I'm in the same position and want to replace mine, too. But "liftsupports.com" looks like an imitation site and you can't search for products. Is that the correct address, or could it be liftsupportsdepot.com or another site?

I bought a set for my '05 from Advance Auto about 1 - 2 years ago. They are still working fine in all weather. I just bought a set for my in-laws truck for about $22 each. My 0. 02.

I went ahead and placed an order with Liftsupportsdepot.com / Mr Lou's Stuff. Just under $40 for two with S&H. Want them soon so I can easily work under the hood.
In Alabama, cold weather is very seldom an issue!
I was hoping someone would know enough about the OEM supports to claim they're better than less expensive ones or some justification for the higher price.
