Replacement Key Problem

Hey Guys,



I bought three transponder replacement keys off ebay at $14/copy and have successfully programmed them to start my '08 Ram. Everything was just fine until I tried to unlock the door with one of these keys and the darned alarm went off #@$%!- thank goodness the truck was in my driveway and I could get the original key to shut off the alarm.



The keys have a grey, round plastic body with an "S" on the shaft and no markings on the body. This appears to be the same key blank my local locksmith would sell for $80.



Question: Does anyone know how or if I can program the keys to work with my factory alarm enabled?



Rafting season is coming and we need to give two keys to shuttle services and I don't want to 1) buy the dealers' $180 replacement key with remote or 2) turn off the factory alarm.

I don't think the key should have anything to do with disarming the door lock there should be a wire in the door so it knows that you unlocked it with a key. The transponder should just work in the ignition switch. But i could be wrong.

As jakprince said is true. I carry a key in my wallet that has no chip in it just to open my truck doors.

Thanks for the feedback. I called the dealer and they said there is a problem with the truck alarm if the spare key is triggering the alarm. Will take it in this afternoon for this issue and it's first oil change. So far, no other issues with 2500 miles. Last tank empty at 60 MPH was 18. 7 MPG over the mountain to Bend, OR and back to Portland. I really like this truck.
