You mean that a five inch system with a 5"muffler and a resonator is not a "like replacement" ?????????????

New Mexican food and CERVESAS?

Nowel, Gimme a hollar when you're getting ready to head this way, Shooter and I will feed you some New Mexican food, and put out the fire with CERVESAS! :D Then send you on your wobbling way. You do carry a portapotti in the truck bed, EH? For those not used to our food, first encounter may cause minor problems, may have to stay a day to clear them up. :{

Greg, compliance is in the eye of the beholder. In my opinion, YES, your system meets all applicable requirements, cause you have a resonator! Some D**khead at Dodge may not be able to figure out that it probably works better at emissions control than the cheap factory system.

Now if GLolas or Vaughn Mackenzie can just follow thru and not forget us, we'll be in good shape. (You guys listenin'?) I darn sure go for the Furd offset intermediate pipe, 'cause all I want is a free flowing muff for EGT reasons, (remember, I'm at 6500 ft), and I like the sound it emits. In the future, a 4" head and downpipe installation would be a piece of cake. Talk soon guys. Ron

I have been driving my wifes truck for the last week that has the stock intake and exhaust systems on it. I put the EZ on level 6 yesterday and drove empty to San Bernardino to see the difference with the stock stuff on. I can tell you that WOT runs on the FWY up to 100 mph would net 1350* in the stock truck. In the truck with the 5" and replacement filter plus a boost elbow I am stuck at 1000*. That is empty. If you add 18,500 lbs in tow I would hate to see the temps in a stock truck.

AMEN TO THAT

Greg, I believe every word. At 6500 ft elevation and a 9K 5th wheel, I have a real problem moving enough air through the engine, and can only tow with a box on timing only. Any addition of fuel sends the engine into roast mode. I got my '01 to the point where it would run, had 4" exhaust, EZ, Bhaf, and it was ok. The new '03 defuels so I never see anything higher than 1260 so far, but I haven't towed with it yet, (soon). I know what I'm gonna see, but I think a 4" turbo-back will fit my needs, just need a good air intake and non-restrictive muffler to do what I want to do. (then call the guys at EDGE), or maybe DD, or maybe TST. OH darn, I'm doin' it again..... :D

With my truck( bombed) I drilled a 4" hole in the bottom of the airbox. It let a significant amount of air through the Airaid filter. That alone helped with 100* drop in egt's. Greg

Greg, That EGT drop from the 4" hole is testimony to the stock air intake being restrictive. But, if one is sucessful in feeding the engine more air, with a stock muff, boost will jump higher/quicker because one is "stacking" air against a restrictive muffler. One has to do both at the same time to realize the most potential from feeding the engine more air. With more air going in, and able to exit the system, boost will tend to stay low, but EGT will show to be lower as well.

What the heck happened to Vaughn MacKenzie and his Furd dutchman pipe? Yoo-Hoo!, Vaughn where are you? Guess we'll have to track him down. I ain't going to no Furd dealer for this piece of pipe, have to wash all my clothes if I did. (has to do with cooties). Oo.

This thread has gotten away from HVAC's initial question. Need to get back to the muff he needs, AND find Vaughn... . Ron

Me Need Muffler

Thanks Frijole, need to check out the Walker catalog for a muff that will bolt in. I need to jump down under the truck to check the size I guess. Seems like it's about 3. 5" on the inlet. Maybe the same on the outlet? I NEED more "Cummins Talk"! :D

doh ... Right Here Buddy!!!

I been off roddin' 'round the neighborhood playing with the Bullydog :D :D :D

frijole you can find your answers here, or check out Diesel Power Products website. Dave Meheen came up with the idea. I don't know the part number (sorry): http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com Give Dave a shout and he'll tell ya what to order or you can get it from him. I did my exhaust up with an Aeroturbine and 4" straight through muffler :D https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75723

Let me know if you have any more questions and I'll try to get back to you within the next 7-10 working days :p :p :p

Lets see if I get this right. I have a 4"hole in the airbox, 4" coming out of the turbo, 5" after the remote exhaust brake, and with the EZ can see 36 psi boost. Bullydog I can nail 40 psi. And when I stacked the EZ on top of the Bullydog I hit 52 PSI!!!!!:D

Doesn't seem I have lost any boost with a big exhaust. Injectors and turbo will round out my truck just fine.

Boost/muffler

Greg, Maybe I didn't explain it correctly, but to cut to the quick; put a stock muffler on that bombed truck and see where your boost goes! (may wanna have a head gasket laying around just in case). It's like putting a cork in it.

Vaughn, AHH-HAA, found you. Thanks much for the links, I'm after it.

Nowel, you seem stuck in the Walker catalog, maybe you like the sound? I'm sorta stuck on the Freightliner muff, as I'm gettin too old to listen to the wife complain about my "rattle motor" truck. Gotta keep peace, ya know? Then again, if it was louder, couldn't hear her at all... . :D
