I was in a hurry the other day so I decided to wash my truck using the pressure washer method. The truck came out nice and clean but I accidentally blew the corner off my Pillar Blackout Tape (Decal). Has anyone replaced this or found an aftermarket comparable decal. I actually think that I could just splice in a section if I had the correct material.

Are you talking about the sticker type material behind the side windows on the front doors? What would it look like if you just took it all off instead of putting it back on? If you can find anyone in you area that doest custom vinyl stickers they might have the stuff you can use.

Thanks JFlagg,

Yes, I am talking about the material between the side windows. I think that it looks best with the black. A friend of mine had his painted black rather than return to the sticker.

I wonder if it would be easier to remove the whole thing and just paint it back on? I use my pressure washer to clean my truck too, I used it last time to remove all the old stickers I didn't want anymore, worked great. Usually takes off the glue and everything, just got to make sure you doen't get to close to anything you want to leave on. Course you know that already;)

You guys must have some mega pressure washers! Mine is 3200psi and I've never removed anything like that. I use the 40* tip though.

I didn't even know that was a decal until reading on here some time back. I never looked that close. Anyway when I had my truck painted the guy just painted that part of the new driver door and I can't tell the difference without looking at the edges real close.

David - Are you saying you don't want the OEM stuff at about $26 PER SIDE! I know you had the parts book at one time. If you need OEM numbers, here they are:

P/N 55274889AD TAPE,Pillar, Blackout Left

Not sure which tip I used, I did have to get REAL close, about an inch or two. I only get that close when I want to take something off though, normally 5-6" is perfect:D Plus, it beats 5-6 dollars at the car wash for lackluster pressure:-laf

Hey Thomas,

How have you been? If what you are saying is true, OEM stuff for only $26, then it is a no brainer. I just figured that it would cost an arm and a leg from the dealer. And yes, I still have my parts manual. Thanks all,

David

P. S. Pressure washer is no more than 3200 psi but that was enough.

P. S. S. I also hook the pressure washer up to a 'soften water' spigot so that it dries spotless.

BRAG BRAG BRAG! :p :-laf

The car wash we used down in California offered a "spot-free rinse" that really worked well - no such animal here in the sticks of Eastern Oregon - and the water is so hard and full of minerals it's like tossing a bucket of rocks on yer vehicle! :-laf

Our water is not too bad but it was just enough to get me to add a whole house water softener. While I was at it, I just ran a single line out to the driveway for the car wash. I'm not feeling too sorry for you Gary. A spotted truck in beautiful Oregon.

WELL - yeah, it DOES have it's nicer side - like this recent fishing trip to a local lake - that's my sister in law, who also lives here with my brother in law - with their grandson and part of the days catch:
