Ok, which one of you guys came up with this?

My Son hauls some heavy loads, his 12' single axle trailer had 3500# axle with no brakes. No brakes was not a big deal. He changed out to Northern Tool @ $48 ea. Leaf Trailer Spring — 6 Leaves, 6000-Lb. Capacity/Pr., Model# 12524. Problem was it was a rough unloaded ride! So he will add another axle with brakes in the future. These are Rockwell American US Made.

Those won't work for most tandem axle setups as they are 27" springs, and most tandems use 25.25" springs.

Well all my parts are here.

Both the springs and EZ-Flex were drop shipped from the manufacturers and arrived today.

Guess it’s time to dig the 5th wheel hitch out and see how the 5th wheel fits in the shop this weekend.

I got as much US made stuff as I could. Lippert was the only shock kit I could find. I was able to source the bearings locally, but they were special ordered. Local places only stock cheap bearings.

Suspension is complete and I've towed it about 300 miles since install. It's working great, and like every other trailer I've installed the EZ-Flex on the difference is noticeable from the truck.

I did have to make a small custom lift out of the old springs to get the lift I needed and modify the shock brackets but all in all it was a painless install.

The brakes work great so I didn't touch them, I'll do those next year at the earliest.

As for the lift I put the new springs and EZ-Flex on and only gained 1/2" and needed a little more. My old springs were 3/8" so I cut them down and made some lift blocks. They are longer than the perch but shorter than the bottom leaf. This should prevent braking axle wrap but not increase the spring rate. I had plenty of room on the new U-bolts with the shock kit.

Now I am sitting level and have 9" of clearance between the bed and trailer, of which I have used over 8" getting into a campsite.
