Archived replacing axle seal -How to remove axle

Got a leak in the drivers side rear axle seal on a 98 2500--My service manual isn't clear on how to remove 2500 axle. do I just unbolt the outer bolts and pull it out or do I have to release in the differential?

2- 98 Dodge 12 valve 2500 auto and stick with 3. 53 + 2005 3500, with 3. 73, auto.

You are on the right track. When you take the eight bolts out that go into the hub, the axle will slide right out. No need to go into the differential.

It just pulls out. You'll need to have a pan to catch the oil. If you have that side jacked up fairly high there won't be much.
