Archived Replacing front axle ujoint, passenger axle wont insert fully

1996 4x4 ram 2500, why wont the passenger axle tube fully seat?

I had it in 4x4, so i tried taking it out of 4x4, still not working.

Any ideas?

Just found a flashlight and looked in passenger side tube.

The 4x4 collar that slides back and forth is not centered behind that seal, it is easily 3/4" too far forward!

So pull the CAD plate off and have someone hold it in place??? SNOKING

That was it. Removed cad plate and fiddled with collar, finally went into place. Luckily i had the right size socket.
My son and i are exhausted

Spent way to long on that. Did drivers side last year, was easier.

Got it back together and i had to compress the piston in the brake caliper.

So i removed the stubborn brake fluid reservoir cap, the rectangle kind with the four "easy break" tabs, and broke one. Good grief. Why cant we have a screw on cap for our CTDs???

Called napa, they will have a new cap tomorrow. Zip ties this one down to get my truck back on the road.
