I am thinking about replacing the injectors in my truck. It is a 2006/5. 9 with 115,000 miles. I have never done this before, and I am looking for some advice on a good source for step-by-step instructions on how to do this, and what tools I will need. I figure the experience and money saved will be worth my time and effort.

Thanks,

Kyle

No. We do have some helpful hints at our site. The most common mistake is the solenoid Nut (over) tightening, 2nd cross over tube installation. 3rd losing the O-rings on the valve cover bolts.

Also we recommend doing the valve adjustments after the injector install. Starting the truck and make sure its running correctly then go back and adjust valves. The reason for this is you may inadvertently cause a problem and blame the injector(s) for this,if you feel confident in doing both at the same time thats or OK.

Good info... . I have to get my other car up and going before I do this incase I screw things up... I have never done any kind of auto work like this, so anything is possible. You sound like a good source for help.

We know how costly and time consuming repairs are,We are always here to take calls 24/7 ,at times I may not be able to answer Right away ,but I tried to return all calls within 2 hours. I do the Dodge/Chrysler Calls Chris takes GM and we split the Ford calls.

Kmyrick,

Why are you replacing your injectors? I've had two replaced under warranty, about 20,000 miles apart. This last one was last week and now my truck has a rough idle when first started up in the morning. It does smooth out later on. I'm wondering if the last injector might be defective.

KIKER, I want to replace my injectors with a higher quality as I would call it so that I can obtain better performance from my truck (better MPGs). I have had one injector go out on me, and before I bought the truck (used) it had been in the shope a few times before with injector problems. I find that taking my truck to the shops is very expensive. Anything that I can do to learn how to fix things myself is a major cost saver. In addtion to saving money, I want to learn how to fix things on my rig.

:-laf YES that bracket must be removed on your 2006 to access #6 injector it will make life ez and if this is your first time plan on taking the day of cause it will take you all day.

Many remaner's out their, New Bosch is on top IMO. . We sell in the real world. CR is the new beast and it has proved to be Strong, reliable, efficient. The efficiency of these motors are much greater then those prior, at the cost of higher flame temps, this is why its so much easier to burn down CR motors, the injectors them-self need much cleaner fuel to live in the environment we ask them to.

A 50-50 chance its ANOTHER injector going bad.

However, if you had it replaced at the dealer and they used a reman then the 2 you had replaced are suspect. :(

When I figure out what brand of injectors to buy, I will plan on using my 3 day weekend to do the job. Slow and easy of the first go at! :)

I do need to get those two special injector pulling tools, the #9010 and #9015. Anyone know a good place to get those from?
