I have a 2004. 5 engine with the lift pump attached to the back of the fuel filter cannister. I'd like to replace the stock LP with a straight tube to which I can clamp the fuel hose, as I have a good LP down on the frame rail and a FP gauge to keep watch on pressure, tapped in between the filter and CP3.

Do I just get the 2005 part and bolt it on (P/N?), or is there a commonly used part or technique to do this?

Thanks everyone,

Mark

There are many different companies that make adapters to replace the lift pump. The 05 filter housing will be big bucks. If you live local to me I could help you out.

Bob,

I'm only guessing, but the guess is that when they switched to the in-tank LP and cannister didn't change - they just removed the LP from the back of the cannister and used a straight-thru part? I was hoping...

THx,

Mark

I think you need the 03>04. 5 fuel filter adapter as shown below.

If you need other fittings you should be able to find them there also.

Thanks - I'll call him if I can't find someone local. I'm trying to avoid the 5 1/2 drive to Spokane... or the day or so for shipping. We're short of autos just now.

Anyone in the Portland OR area make a substitute?

Any ever try and drill out the guts of the stock LP that attaches to the fuel filter cannister?

Thanks,

Mark

Call Rich at Glacier, he is in Washington state. Great guy.

Ok - I poked around enough and found it, and thought it might be helpful to leave a after-action report for posterity.

UPDATE: I called and arranged to swing by Vulcan Performance (they generally do wholesale only, so THANKS!) and picked up just the adapter and hose barb. The beast is back on the road. Thanks Vulcan!!

Better key words are lift/fuel pump relocation, and there's a shop here in Vancouver that makes just the gizmo:

Vulcan Performance (Vancouver)

It's the third 'elbow' down on the left side, with the machined brass plate attached - that plate takes the place of the fitting on the side of the pump that attaches to the filter cannister, and allows you to put whatever you'd like elsewhere on the truck... in-tank, on the rail, FASS, or ?!

Thanks and Regards,

Mark
