Replacing the firewall insulating blanket.

It is possible to replace the firewall blanket at the rear of the engine and engine compartment without removing the engine? Back in 98 there was a recall about these blankets catching fire so the dealer just cut the end off the blanket near the exhaust pipe and taped the remnants to the metal firewall with aluminum tape. It looks terrible now! I have a new blanket and want to put it in and remove the old one.

I want to add one to my v10 truck that I did a conversion into , were can you get them ? My guess worst case scenario would be loosen the the cab mounts or the engine mounts only

That would have been recall 737 Iirc.I only remember doing a couple.The insulation was to be trimmed,the trimmed edge wrapped with the tape then a screw was to be installed through the tape an insulation and I think there was also a metal shield that got installed.
I doubt the oem insulation would still be available.I don’t think even if you could find it that you could install it,it would be damaged trying to fit it in place with the engine in the way.
