Well, looks like I've joined the dead vp 44 club. After 3 weeks of trying to figure out the problem, the consensus is the I've got an electrical gremlin in my 44. I get codes that don't make much sense, including one that indicates a lack of communication between ecm and the 44. The truck goes into a rough idle and limp mode almost every time I drive it, then after 24hrs or so of unhooked batteries it clears itself, and drives normal for a while then acts up. Absolutely no loss of power at any time though, even towing. Fuel pressure is normal, unhooked all my mods, replaced map sensor, fuel filter, lift pump, put dielectric grease on all connections..... to no avail. I'm going to go completely through the fuel system tonight to see if I have any leaks where air might get into the system... doubt it. Anyone seen ecm failure?? Don't think mine is bad.

To those who have replaced the 44 yourselves could you chime in and give me any tips/ directions to help out. ;)

Thanks guys

Steve

Any chance you have a bad crank position sensor? My truck used to set off the 1693 code without any companion code (2000 truck) and would go into a limp mode. Talked to Tplasek and he had the same thing which was fixed with a crank position sensor.

Do a search for crank position sensor... .

Hope this helps...
