Anyone successfully done it?

I have a spare ECM coming that is currently a CaTCHER modified unit - and that's OK, if it must stay that way - but if possible, I'd prefer it to be returned to stock, if it can be done purely with a re-flash of the basic programming, rather than electronic surgery.

Anyone have a clue?

I think Bob Wagner is the guy to talk too. I bet he can get it done for you. I know your dealer probably can not do it because of the software revision number that they used in the catcher software. I remember reading that they set the revision number high enough that the scan tool would always think it had the latest software.

Not an option in my case.

Just wondering if it's even possible, or has been done without disassembling the ECM and physically modifying it back to OEM condition...

It's not any sort of emergency, or a "must do" situation - I can use it the way it is just fine, but wondering if returning it to stock is an available option at some future time...

I already have an Edge Comp - and vastly prefer it to a CaTCHER-type device, so don't really need that feature in the ECM.

I thought the Smarty could take a Catcher ECM back to stock. The way I understood it, the Smarty doesn't store the existing software when you load a Smarty program. It uses one of the many stored stock software loads when you return the truck back to "stock" (that's how you get the latest flash when you load/unload a Smarty program). I have a Catcher ECM as a spare, maybe i should try it!

WELL, if that's the case, I might be able to find a Smarty user over at the August dyno day in Boise willing to help me out - I keep hoping to hear from someone out in CaTCHER/Smarty user-land who has done it, lots of the older CaTCHERS out there, must be some who have had reason to switch back to OEM programming...

I'm quite familiar with normal use and programming with Smarty - had one myself until 6 months or so ago, but it was not fully compatible with my needs or expectations, and I sold it...

Gary, I will toss you another bone. IF the software code in The ECM THAT YOU BOUGHT SECOND HAND does not match up to YOUR STOCK ECM CODE.

You will only be returning A CATCHER SOFTWARE back to the original software.

Hence do you know what you have in hand? If not ... ... .

more to clear the air... . If you have a 2002/6speed/Federal or Carb ecm then life will be good. If you have something else. Watch out. The smarty will ONLY UPDATE what version it reads

So, if the ECM is the correct code for the application does that mean I can take a Catcher ECM and load a Smarty program then load the stock program and get an ECM with the latest factory load? If that's true, I can return my Catcher back to stock myself. That would be easy!

BTW, thanks in advance as well as all your help Bob!
