I finally figured out what was causing my Brake and ABS light to stay on... . The driver's side front ABS Sensor was bad.

I had taken my truck in for an alignment and they told me 2 of the 4 bolts holding my front wheel bearing/hub assembly on were missing :--)

The only reason I could think of for these bolts being loose was from a brake shop replacing the front rotors last year. I took the truck back to the brake shop and they agreed to replace the hub and bearing and also fix a few other things that were related (badly worn tire, etc). I also took the truck into a dealer to tell me what the Brake and ABS lights were on for (at a cost of $89).

Well... now that everything is fixed, the brake and ABS lights are still on and the dealer wants another $89 to clear them... I would consider this a continuation of the same problem I brought it in to them to begin with... but...

Does anyone know if disconnecting the batteries will clear the fault code(s) that are causing these to light ?

Thanks,

OK... I tried unhooking th batteries and letting the truck sit overnight... even turned the light switch on.

But... I hooked both batteries back up and the BAS and Brake light are still on... I guess I'll have to go to a Dealer to have them reset.

:(

There is no reset. Sounds like you still have a sensor/wire problem. Use an ohmmeter across the sensor. I have heard 600 ohms and up for front sensors. If less it is bad. Bad sensors will usually show open. There could also be a wiring issue near the wheels where the sensors plug in.

1100 ohms for the front sensors, 1800 ohms for the rear sensor.

If there is no problem, the lights should clear after a few start ups.
