Well, I can do anything when it comes to building power lines, but when it comes to indoor electrical work I have very basic knowledge.

So, I’m upgrading my house breaker panel from a 100 amp to a 200 amp panel. This part is no problem. I’m also in the process of building a detached garage in my back yard and I’m putting a 100 amp panel in the garage. I’m going to be running the 100 amp panel off the 200 amp panel in my basement. I wanted to change out my single position load side meter with a two position load side meter, but they’ve been on back order for 9 months so I’m stuck running it into the basement.

Question is, can I put the 100 amp breaker in any position in the 200 amp panel? Meaning, does it have to be in the top position or can it be all the way at the bottom?

Did you increase the gauge (thickness) of the main wires going to the new 200 amp service or is it big enough for 200 amp?

Line side is big enough. Lucked out there as the line side is direct buried to the meter. Load side I went from #4 aluminum to 1/0 copper.
