Resister specs. for LEDs

If you convert to LED lights you will need to connect resisters between the stop/turn hot wire and the ground wire for each side. The body builders section on www.dodge.com recommends 6 ohm/50watt resisters. Trucklite recommends 10 ohm/25 or 50 watt resisters. I sourced mine from a local electronic store for $2. 49 ea. . If you keep the original tail lights and add LED lights, you will not need any resisters. Hope this helps someone, as I knew I need resisters , but didn't know the specs. .

you will need some resistors too with led bulbs in stock housings or you will get a lamp out chime/light

Why the big push to LEDs? I know they are supposed to last longer, but in my 94, I think I've only had to replace one bulb, so the longevity doesn't make sense to me. I have seen a lot of LED equiped big trucks (and a few cars) in snowstorms that despite having their lights on, the rears are totally covered with snow. There's not enough heat generated to keep the crud buildup off the lenses.
