I've had my first CTD for about a month now. It's making a sound that I am not familiar with. It's a resonating sound, kind of like when you run a wet finger around the edge of a glass. It's not the turbo whirling sound. It does not appear to be RPM specific and will happen in all gears. It only lasts about 2 seconds in each gear. It almost seems like it happens when the truck is working a certain amount. For example, it won't make the noise w/ almost no throttle, or full throttle, but somewhere in between.

If anyone knows what it is, is there any way to get rid of it & do I need to be concerned. I'm headed on a long trip Wednesday & don't need to have any problems.

Does this sound happen right at 2000 rpm?

If so, a friend of mine (HEYBOSS) used my K&N in the stock box to see if this would correct the problem, and it seemed too.

I think it seems to happen most often around 2100 rpm's. Air filter... I wouldn't think that's it, but I can give it a try.

Do a search on "resonance". There was a thread a while back Aug/Sept I think where this was addressed. If I recall the cause of it is normal engine pulsation through the drive train.

It's called a wine glass chirp. It's the turbo resonating through the exhaust. Ain't it beautiful! Almost like the song of the whales...

Look Here

If you will just pull the muffler and resonator off then you'll be able to really enjoy it. I do. :D  ;)
