Sorry to repeat this topic, but I can't find the original thread and since the topic of replacing the OEM exhaust was brought up in the thread of Ted Jannety's.
Why is there a resonator on exhaust? Is it to keep the drone that so many people complain about after they straight pipe their trucks to a minimum? I was thinking of replacing my downpipe with a free flowing mandrel bent one, trashing the resonator, and putting a straight thru muffler on it. Will I get the drone that most people complain about? I just don't want the noise to get obnoxious so I can still take my newborn son with me and he can hear me expound on the virtures of a Cummins.
