I recently installed a 2004. 5 exhaust elbow and factory 4 inch down pipe along with a DPPI cat elimination pipe and cat back 4 inch exhaust. It really worked out nice but it is a tad noisey around 2000 rpms inside the cab. Has anyone used the resonator that DPPI sells? If so did it quiet things down? Any other suggestions besides ear plugs?

KC,

I just installed the resonator on my DPPI Duals a couple of weeks ago, it works quit well, it quiets down the exhaust note about 50% on the ear meter, you can still hear a slight increase at 2000 rpm but nothing painfull.

I chose to install one after towing my camper with the duels on a 6400 mile trip, i was ready to do somthing after the first 1000 miles, but it is quit nicw now.

I installed mine on the end of the down pipe, but when i get chance i'm going to relocate it to the same lacation where the cat turned up missing...

Sounds (no pun intended) like its just what I am looking for. My 2004 didn't have a cat. I take it from your post that the cat is mounted back by the muffler not by the down pipe as it comes from the factory?

That sounds like what I have been looking for. My dppi exhaust is just too loud when cruising above 65.

Kc,

The original Cat location is about 12" from the end of the down pipe, so i'll be sliding the resonator towards the rear some and see if the sound changes at all.

Just a note i mounted the resonator so the litle scoops inside face the gas flow

SOOOO, Looks like you are the only one (other than me) that did the 4. 5 elbow convertion... I did not take any pre-convertion egt notes, so i have not idea if it helped

Did you see any help with egts with this new full 4inch system??

The banks exhaust kit is often put on to fix the problem entirely, it happens right around highway speeds and is very annoying. The new kit releives all the problems.

I didn't take any readings before I did the swap either. Maybe someone can post their pre and or post pyro readings for a stock 2003 or 2004. I drilled my new elbow for a pyro so that I can install a pyro which will be my next project. I'm also in the process of having a resonator built as a direct replacement for the cat pipe.
